Day 4. Tuesday 17 July. - Andalsnes
We approach Andalsnes through what seemed to be a mist. The sea looked to be a turquoise in colour and was as smooth as it could be. We had passed small rocklike islands that stuck sharply out of the water.
We then met land which I thought was possible the start of the fjord.
The sky was again over blanketed with cloud and looked chilly. And it was. After breakfast we took to deck 7 and enjoyed the view which must be beautiful if sunny and if there was no cloud and if it had been warm. It was 12c wet and cloudy. Still we did get many pictures. We had heard from the captain that we had had to make a 40 min detour due to some problem in one of the normal passages through the fjords. One could only imagine what the problem was.
We had decided that if we got off the ship we would wait until after lunch. We had thought it may have warmed up. After lunch the Scotts did make it on to land and the rest of us decided to take a relaxing view from our balconies. The sun did attempt to break through and the cloud lifted somewhat.
After 4 pm we sat on deck 7 in the warm air coming from the ships vents looking over a stunning view down the fjord and across to the village of Andalsnes.
At 5pm whist sitting in the Antrim the sun came out quit bright. everyone was supposed to be back on board but there were many missing. Four tenders still at quay side at 5:30pm after dinner we went to a show and afterwards took advantage of the bright sun. After finding it very cold we stepped inside and listened to Peter's band at the Antrim where we stayed until 11pm. we retired and the sky was clear and still light.
